Tucked away in the quiet village of Pariyaram, on the lush fringes of Chalakudy in Kerala's Thrissur district, Stay Easy is not your typical place to stay — it's a home that happens to have rooms for you.
The property sits in a two-storey house framed by towering palm trees and the kind of thick, unhurried greenery that only Kerala knows how to grow. The moment you step through the gate, the noise of the outside world falls away. What replaces it is birdsong, the rustle of coconut fronds, and the gentle warmth of a house that has been cared for deeply.
Inside, the spaces are generous and thoughtfully done. The living room is bright and airy, furnished with comfortable wooden seating arranged around a low centre table — the kind of room where evenings pass easily, whether you're unwinding after a day of exploring or simply doing nothing at all. The ceiling fans spin slowly overhead, and light filters in through the windows in long, golden bars.
The dining area is centred around a striking glass-topped table with rich red wooden chairs — seats enough for the whole group, lit by a sculptural ceiling fan that doubles as a statement piece. Just beyond it, visible through an open doorway, is the kitchen: a full, well-equipped space with dark wood cabinetry, granite countertops, a gas stove with a hood, a refrigerator, and open shelving lined with everything you need. This is a kitchen made for actual cooking, not just for show.
The rooms themselves carry the same warmth. The master bedroom is spacious, AC-cooled, and anchored by a large solid wood wardrobe with a mirror panel. White linen on the bed, shuttered wooden windows letting in filtered morning light, and a cuckoo clock on the wall that gives the room its own quiet personality. The second master room takes a different character — warmer toned, with a tufted leather headboard, mood lighting flanking the bed, and a woody richness that makes it feel like a boutique space. Upstairs, the rooms are painted in soft, cheerful tones with AC, clean beds, and window blinds that let in just the right amount of Kerala sun. Each room has its own feel, but all of them share the same quality: clean, cared-for, and genuinely comfortable.
Step out onto the upper balcony and you're met with artificial turf underfoot and stepping stone tiles leading to a glass-railed veranda — a small, private perch above the trees. It's a good place to sit in the early morning with a cup of tea and watch the world wake up around you.
The location is its own reward. Chalakudy sits on the edge of some of Kerala's most celebrated wilderness. The Athirapally Waterfalls — often called the "Niagara of India" — are a short drive away. So is the smaller but equally beautiful Vazhachal Falls. Wild Asian elephants cross the roads near the forests here; you may spot them without even trying. The air carries the calls of hornbills and kingfishers. The Silver Storm Water Park and Dreamworld are nearby for days with children, and the Korattymuthy Shrine draws pilgrims and visitors alike. Chalakkudy Railway Station keeps the property well connected to the rest of Kerala.
This is a place where you arrive as a guest and leave feeling like you visited family. The hosts are present but never intrusive, the spaces are clean without feeling clinical, and the surroundings are the kind that make you book a few extra nights once you're already there.
